Primary school website design that families notice.
Families judge primary schools on what they find online before they ever visit. We have built over 1,000 school websites since 2011, and we still answer the phone.

Across the sector, school websites are close but rarely finished. Of the 247 compliance audits we ran in 2025, only 6.5% came back fully compliant. Most had something missing, something out of date, or something that had never been right. That gap is exactly what our compliance software is built to close.
The State of School Website Compliance 2025, Schudio
School websites we have built for primary schools.
Bespoke primary school website design, not a template.
Our primary school website design starts from your school's colours, crest and character. The design system underneath every primary school website we build is ours, so it is responsive on every device, loads quickly, and does not need a developer to update it. What you see in the preview is what parents see on the day your new school website goes live.
- Designed to your school's identity, not a theme you share with 300 others
- Mobile-first, because most parents read your school website on their mobile
- Accessible to WCAG 2.1 AA as standard, not as an add-on
- Six to eight weeks from brief to live, agreed with you at the start
Compliance is a maintenance problem. We built the tools to solve it.
The DfE list of required website content changes. Primary schools publish the right document, then the website drifts. We built Document Groups specifically to stop that happening.
Publish a document once. It updates everywhere.
Most of what a primary school publishes is a document, not a page. A Document Group is one named place for a set of them. When you upload this year's Ofsted report, it appears on every page that shows it. When you retire last year's, it disappears from all of them at once.
This is how we treat compliance as a maintenance problem rather than a publishing one. You publish the right document once. Your school website does not drift after that.
Families choose you before they ever walk through the door.
Reception intake is where a falling birth rate lands first, and it lands on primary schools before anyone else. When there are fewer families to go round, prospective parents do their looking online. Most will read your website, compare it with two or three others, and form a view long before they ring to book a visit.
The problem is not that school websites are bad. It is that most of them were built to satisfy an inspector rather than to answer a parent. The statutory pages are all present and correct, and the questions a family is actually asking are nowhere. That is the gap we help primary schools close, and it is how a school website builds trust with prospective parents.
What parents ask, and what most school websites lead with.
Everything in the right hand column has to be published, and on a Schudio website it is. None of it is what a family came to find out.
A content management system built for the person who also answers the phone.
We have been building school websites since 2011. The people who update them are office managers, headteachers and teaching assistants, not web developers. Our content management system reflects that. You do not need training to change a date, upload a letter or add a news item.
Ready-designed page layouts that you edit in place.
Upload a document once. Every page that shows it updates automatically.
Check any letter before it goes home. Free with every school website.
Drafts pages, audits your website for compliance. Never publishes anything without you.
Write with Schudio drafts new pages in your school's own tone, because it has read your existing website first. The AI-Chatbot answers parent questions directly on your website, drawing only from your own published content. AI-powered compliance audits check your whole website and flag what is missing, thin or quietly out of date. None of them publish anything without you.
What a good primary school website needs.
Good primary school website design balances compliance with a website parents actually enjoy using. Your website should reflect your school's unique identity, and these are the things we build every design around.
-
Written for two audiences
A primary school website serves current families and prospective parents at the same time, and good website design helps both, and most of them are busy parents reading on a phone. Regular news and event updates keep current families informed and connected to school life. Prospective parents need to see your values clearly, quickly.

Easy to find, quick to use
Good primary school website design keeps navigation clear, without overly complex menus, so anyone can find what they need in a couple of taps. Clear calls to action guide parents to the information that matters, from admissions to the latest letter home.
Devonshire Primary Academy
-
Real, not stock
Real photographs of your school communicate authenticity and community in a way stock images never will. Good photography and video, used well, create a welcoming first impression, and visual storytelling builds immediate trust with prospective parents.
Manor Park Primary School
-
Accessible to every family
Inclusive, responsive design means your school website works on mobile, tablet and desktop, and for users with disabilities too. School websites fall under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations, so we build to WCAG guidelines, publish statutory information in accessible formats, and make sure your accessibility statement is in place.
Anchorsholme Academy
-
Compliant all year round
Primary schools must legally publish specific information online, including Ofsted reports, the pupil premium strategy and the SEN information report, and we help you keep all of it current. Statutory information should be easy to find, ideally in its own section, and keeping it right is a year-round job rather than a once-a-year panic. Our compliance audits also check that data protection standards are met, and every client gets our weekly email with best practice compliance advice.
Hambleton Primary Academy
Everything a primary school website needs, included.
We design beautiful, easy-to-use school websites, and every school website design we deliver comes with the same features, the same support and the same team behind it. This is how we help primary schools manage their website once it is live.

School news and events
Primary schools can add a news story or move an event in moments, and share it to school social media from the same place. Parents see what is happening without waiting for a newsletter.

Pages that are easy to update
Our content management system is built for office managers, not developers, and Content Templates give you ready-designed page layouts to edit in place. Updating your primary school website takes minutes, not hours.
Included on every site
A parent app, included
Every primary school website includes a parental engagement app, the MIS-linked ParentHub app, which pulls the most important information from your website through to parents automatically. Secure forms and absence reporting are built in, so parents can tell you their child is off without ringing the office. Better parental engagement, without another system to buy.

A named contact, and unlimited support
You work with a named contact in our team, not a ticket queue. We have been helping primary schools since 2011, and our support does not stop at launch. The friendly experts who help you are the people who built the software.

Training for your whole team
Unlimited training for your whole team for as long as you are a client, plus CPD-accredited workshops and support from the people who built the software.
Founded in 2011. Still owner-run. Still in Lancashire.
We are a fifteen-year software company that is also small enough that the founder answers the phone. We built the CMS, we built the compliance tools, and we built the AI Suite. When something in the DfE requirements changes, we update the platform. You do not have to ask us to.
We have trained over 5,000 school staff. Most of them were not expecting to enjoy it. Most of them did.
Three ways to buy your primary school website. No setup fee on any of them.
Most providers charge you to build the website, then every year after that, then again when it needs redesigning. We do it the other way round. One annual price, nothing to pay up front, and the next redesign already in it.

Tell us about your school.
We will tell you honestly which of the three fits, show you a demo of the CMS and agree when you will launch. No obligation, and we will not hand you to a salesperson.

See what five years can really cost
- Build
- Design features
- Annual fee, £315 a year
- Video, £95 a year
- One redesign
£975 less over five years in this example.
Always Ready comes to £6,000 over the same five years, which is £275 more than the example package costs for the website on its own. Essentials comes to £2,375, against £2,420 for a template package once its setup fee is counted.
How we compared
One worked example, not an average or a claim about every provider. Built from one provider’s published list prices on 22 September 2026, against Schudio’s published prices. Both exclude VAT.
The example bespoke package: £1,895 to build, £585 of selected design extras (animated statistics, curriculum popups and a background video, the same features Schudio includes), £315 a year, £95 a year for the video, and one redesign at £1,195. Over five years that totals £5,725. Schudio Bespoke is £950 a year, which totals £4,750. The template comparison uses the same provider’s pre-designed tier at £945 to set up and £295 a year.
Without the redesign Schudio would be £220 more, which is exactly why ours is in the price. Holding a quote? Send it over and we will work through it with you.
"The old site was something we dreaded updating. The Schudio site is something we actually use. The Document Groups alone saved us about two hours every time we had a policy review."
Headteacher, Church of England Primary, LancashireHow primary school website design works with us.
Built for primary schools, six to eight weeks from brief to live, and you are working with one team through the entire design process. Nobody passes you along a chain.
-
Brief
We start with your school: your parents, your values, and what your current website is not doing for you. It is the same process behind the 1,000 school websites we have built since 2011.
-
Design
We create your primary school website design around your colours, crest and character. You see it in preview before anything goes live.
-
Content transfer
Our team helps by moving your existing pages, documents and images across, so your new school website launches full rather than empty.
-
Training and launch
We train the people who will look after it, and launch when we agreed at the start, planned around your term dates.
-
A new design every three years
At the start of year four we redesign it, and that is already in your annual price.
The five questions primary schools always ask.
Something else on your mind? Call us on 0333 577 0753 or talk to us about your website.
How much does primary school website design cost?
Primary school website design with us starts at £475 a year for Essentials, £950 for Bespoke with a redesign every three years, or £1,200 for Always Ready with the AI tools. None has a setup fee. Prices are plus VAT.
How long does a new primary school website take?
Six to eight weeks is standard for primary school website design with us. We agree the date with you at the start and plan around your term dates so the heavy weeks do not land on your busiest ones.
What happens to the content on our current website?
We move it. Our team migrates your existing pages, documents and images into your new school website rather than handing you an empty shell to fill in the summer holidays.
Who trains us to use it?
We do, and it is the same people who built the software, with support and help whenever you need it afterwards. We have trained more than five thousand school staff, online and in person.
We are still in contract with our current provider. Can we move?
Yes, and we help you do it. We plan the build around your existing contract so you are not paying two providers at the same time, and we time the launch for when the old one ends.
A school website that is genuinely good, stays compliant, and one person can keep right. That is what we build.
Tell us about your school. We will show you what is included and agree a launch date, and we will not hand you to a salesperson.
