A school website needs to explain what makes a school worth getting to know. For Saint Jérôme Church of England Bilingual School in Harrow, that meant introducing an education few families will have encountered before: English and French bilingual learning in a state primary school, rooted in Christian values and open to families of all faiths and none.

The school arrived with a clear visual direction of its own, in the form of brand guidelines and a design prototype developed outside Schudio. The task was to turn that direction into a working school website, and to organise the substantial information behind it so that families could understand what bilingual education looks like in practice.

The result is stjeromebilingual.org, which went live on 1 July 2026: a website that introduces the school through its aims, vision and values, and gives families a structured view of learning across every year group.

Kate Schutte, who joined the school as headteacher after the new website launched, describes the outcome in terms of character and clarity: a website that feels warm and professional, reflects its bilingual community and has become a real asset in how it presents itself.

In the school’s words

Coming into Saint Jérôme after the new website launched, I was struck by how well the Schudio team had captured what makes our school distinctive.

Starting with the school’s character

Saint Jérôme was founded by parents who wanted their children to grow up confident in two languages. That origin still shapes the school: pupils learn and grow in English and French, within a community that encourages ambition, resilience and kindness.

Its Church of England identity and its welcome to families of every background are part of the same story. The website needed to present these elements together, so that a family arriving for the first time could see how they combine in a single educational offer.

That set a clear standard for the project. The school’s distinctiveness had to be visible in the content and structure of the website, not confined to the word bilingual in its name.

Bringing a supplied design to life

Many schools come to Schudio for a new identity. Saint Jérôme came with one already developed. Our role was to carry that established direction into the school website platform, adapting a proven Schudio template to reflect the supplied brand guidelines and prototype.

The approach respected the work the school had already done, while giving it a website designed for the realities of school communication. The homepage introduces the school’s aims, vision and values, followed by a welcome from the headteacher.

Just as importantly, the design had to extend beyond the opening screen. The pages behind it needed to organise year-group information, curriculum content and documents in a way that stayed consistent with the school’s presentation and manageable for its team.

Making bilingual learning visible

The most substantial part of the project concerned the year-group curriculum overviews. The school wanted this detailed information to be readable directly on the website rather than only as downloadable documents, with particular attention to mobile visitors and accessibility.

Schudio’s content team converted the overviews into web content and prepared two ways of organising it, as expandable sections and as tabs, so the school could compare them in practice. The discussion considered how intuitive each felt for families and how easily staff could edit it later.

The live Year Group Curriculum Overviews page now brings Reception through Year 6 together in a tabbed layout, with term-by-term content within each year. French songs and stories sit alongside English, mathematics and the wider curriculum, and class pages introduce Fir Class and Oak Class alongside Classe Sapin and Classe Chêne.

It feels warm and professional, reflects our bilingual community, and gives families a much clearer picture of school life in both languages.

These details give the school’s identity substance. Families can see how two languages run through children’s everyday learning, rather than taking the word bilingual on trust.

Looking beyond the homepage

The curriculum work formed part of a wider review of how the website’s information was organised. The school’s priorities included clearer page structures, better document management and grouped content that reduces unnecessary navigation.

Schudio’s content specialists reviewed the internal pages before launch, working with the school to replace resources that were no longer available rather than carrying problems into the new site. A website compliance audit gave the school a separate view of its publishing requirements alongside the design and content work.

Each part served a different purpose. The design introduces the school, the internal pages make its information usable, and the audit supports a clear view of what the school needs to publish.

Ready for the school to run

A website only stays useful if the people responsible for it are confident managing it. The school made training a priority before launch, and Schudio provided online training and a one-to-one session so its team could take ownership from the start.

The same thinking shaped the curriculum layouts, which were chosen with future editing in mind as well as the visitor’s experience. Launch was then coordinated around the school’s own approval process, and support has continued since as the team refines its pages.

One clear picture for families

The live website brings Saint Jérôme’s bilingual identity together with the practical information families need. The homepage explains the school’s aims and values, the year-group pages connect families with their child’s class, and the curriculum overviews show what children learn, term by term.

The school continues to add its own stories, such as pupils winning their age category in a national French pop video competition. That achievement belongs to the pupils, but it shows the kind of bilingual school life the website now helps the school to share.

It’s easy to use, simple for parents to find what they need, and it’s become a real asset in how we present the school.

Saint Jérôme shows why a distinctive school needs a website that looks beyond the homepage. The supplied design, the school’s educational identity, the organisation of its content and the practicalities of managing it were considered together, and the result is a website the school is proud to present.
